Retreat Leader

Olivia Lifsey 500RYT YACEP

In 2013 Olivia attended Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Traditional Eastern Arts with a concentration in Yoga, as well as completing over 1,000 hours of yoga teacher training. Upon graduation in 2015, Olivia registered with Yoga Alliance and began her teaching career while traveling throughout Central America, and in her hometown of Chagrin Falls, Ohio.

Olivia came to the Outer Banks in 2016 to complete the Kunga Yoga Lifestyle Program, a program dedicated to educating yogis how to use their practice as service for others. After completing the Kunga program, Olivia was offered a full time teaching position at Village Yoga, in Duck North Carolina.

Olivia’s yoga classes are inspired by dance as she likes to include funky transitions and challenging shapes we typically don’t put our bodies into everyday. While she loves physical play time, her classes are grounded in spirit and will include pranayama and meditation practices.

Since moving to the Outer Banks, Olivia has completed a SUP yoga teacher training, became certified at hands on assisting with Noelle Whittington, studied Barre with Denise DeCarlo, received her Reiki I certification, and is a certified Ayurvedic health coach.

In 2019 Olivia led her first yoga and ayurveda retreat. She immediately fell in love with the combination of wellness travel and connecting with people in an immersion style container. She believes that the experience of retreating to self explore, deepen your spiritual practice, and get out of the day to day routines can provide deep healing and positive change.

You now have multiple opportunities to join Olivia on retreat throughout the year, as she continues to add more to her roster, including international retreats!

Inspired by her own lifelong healing journey, Olivia is dedicated to educating and empowering others to learn how to heal themselves through Ayurveda, mindful movement, and self-love.

Olivia is currently accepting coaching clients to work with her 1 on 1 through an ayurvedic health lens.

She completed the 300 Hour Kunga Yoga Service and Leadership Certification in 2017 at Wilmington Yoga Center; with training in 5Elements Flow, Restorative Yoga, Power Vinyasa, Yoga for Seniors, Prenatal, and Kids Yoga. She received her Ayurvedic Lifestyle Coaching Certification through Katie Silcox and The Shakti School in 2019.

She is the founder of Veda del Soul, a 200 Hour Yoga + Ayurveda Lifestyle Teacher Training. Written and created out of love and passion for the ancient practices of Yoga + Ayurveda. Learn more about this program here.

Her primary teachers include Jessica Moody, Katie Kennis, Kristin Cooper-Gulak, Noelle Whittington, and Katie Silcox. She has also had the honor of practicing and studying with Hilary Garivaltis, Rachel Brathen, Rolf Gates, Emilie Perz, and Meredith Hogan. Charlee has led yoga classes in retreat settings in Costa Rica, India, and Hawaii with her primary teachers. She has hosted and led yoga retreats locally on the Outer Banks.

Growing up, Charlee’s family owned and operated a local Outer Banks restaurant, and her dad was never not cooking. From the time she was a child, Charlee has always had a passion for preparing food and serving others. Since her Yoga and Ayurveda trainings, she has been inspired to learning more about the healing properties of the foods we eat. She has worked aside our retreat chef at multiple retreats and has had her ServeSafe Certification for many years working in the food service industry.

Charlee is very grateful for the opportunity to offer a service of love through the kitchen to the retreat attendees.

“So much gratitude fills my heart to have had this week and experience with you. You have left an imprint on my heart that will stay with me forever. You’re both professional, yet warm and caring, and conducted the retreat with ease. Your knowledge of Yoga and Ayurveda is untouched! I learned a lot from you both. Thank you!”

What kind of food will we be eating (I have an allergy)?

Our chef will be preparing a variety of vegetarian meals. We will use as locally and organically sourced foods as possible. If you have any dietary allergies, please let us know upon booking.  We will try to accommodate allergies as best we can, extra costs may occur.

What do you mean by ‘a special ayurvedic menu designed to optimize detoxification’?

One of ayurveda’s tools for cleansing is a dish called kitchari (kitch-uh-ree). Kitchari is a delicious, thick soup that is beloved in the tradition of Ayurveda. Composed of rice, dal, spices, and other nutritious ingredients, it is extremely easy to digest, making it a staple of the Ayurvedic diet and the go-to meal for Ayurvedic cleansing. We will experience a mono diet of kitchari for three days of the retreat for lunch and dinner. The remainder of our meals will be vegetarian.

How far away is the beach?

Just steps away!

Do we have free time?

Yes, there will be plenty of free time! Feel free to venture around the Outer Banks, stroll the boardwalk or beach, schedule bodywork, read in the common areas of the house, enjoy the hot tub, or simply nap- it’s your time to relax and unwind!

Is my family allowed to come stay in the house with me?

Due to the limited space available, only paying retreat attendees are allowed to stay in the house. If family wishes to come to the Outer Banks during your retreat, we can refer them to great airBNBs.

Can I bring my pets?

No pets are allowed to come to the retreat.

Will there be alcohol?

Alcohol will not be provided, nor permitted in the retreat house.

I’m new to yoga, will I be able to participate in the yoga classes?

While some yoga experience is recommended, most poses can be adjusted to accomodate any level.

Who is this retreat for?

This retreat is for yogis who wish to experience a spring detox that will leave you feeling refreshed and full rather than depleted and hungry- and learn a little ayurveda along the way!
