Class Descriptions

5Elements Earth Flow
5Elements Flow is a dynamic vinyasa flow practice within the Kunga Yoga methodology developed by Kristin Cooper and inspired by the teachings of Ayurveda.  5Elements Earth Flow is a grounding, hip-opening practice which emphasizes stability and strength through a steady and strong flowing sequence. Strenght is cultivated through a series of slow salutations (namaskars) and standing and supine hip-opening postures.  5Elements Earth Flow is for all levels of students that wish to move through a slow, deep vinyasa practice; completing with a restorative savasana and longer period of meditation

5Elements Water Flow
5Elements Flow is a dynamic vinyasa flow practice within the Kunga Yoga methodology developed by Kristin Cooper and inspired by the teachings of Ayurveda.  5Elements Water Flow is rejuvenating practice incorporating fluid vinyasa and circular wave motion throughout the body within a soft, slowly flowing sequence. This is a nourishing and calm practice meant to balance the effects of stress, depletion, and over-stimulation from life or from strong heated Agni-based practices. The circular movements of 5Elements Water Flow lubricate all of the joints in the body, and support increased spinal mobility, range of motion, and balance. 5Elements Water Flow is a full body vinyasa practice with an emphasis on shoulder opening, fluid backbends, and the six movements of the spine. Working to move the body as liquid matter; we release old patterns of stress and tightness. All levels are welcome, and this practice ends with a lengthy relaxation. *some yoga experience recommended.

All Levels Yoga // Basic Yoga
A great place to start, maintain, or reignite your yoga practice.  This class is focused on the foundational aspects of yoga with more guidance and alignment cueing.

Barre
Inspired by ballet, Pilates, and yoga to build strength and flexibility to the body with bursts of cardio mixed in.

Fusion
A fitness based class that incorporates cardio, yoga asana, pranayama and meditation.  Bring water and a hand towel!

Gentle Yoga
An accessible practice for practitioners of all ages and levels.  During this practice, you will move through slower movements encouraging lubrication to the joints and muscles.

Pilates
A form of low-impact exercise that aims to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility.

Level 2 Power Vinyasa
An intermediate practice designed to build heat within the body.  Focused on strengthening and breathwork, our intermediate practices are great for students that already have vinyasa (flow) or other yoga experience, as there will be less alignment cueing and more opportunity for free movement.

Power Yoga
Designed to build heat and strength within the body through movement and breath work.

Rockin’ Vinyasa
A fun and playful flow. Some yoga experience recommended.

Slow Flow
A class to find balance in the breath, body, and mind by harnessing the yang and yin properties of the yoga practice.  Class will start with a heat building, slow flow style practice and end with longer holds and deeper stretches to find this balance within.

Vinyasa
“To place in a special way”  Vinyasa classes place an emphasis on connecting the breath with yoga postures (asanas) to create a moving meditation.

Yin
A more passive form of movements with longer holds and stretching.  Yin allows us to soften into the deeper connective tissues and muscles.  A great practice to compliment more vigorous yoga practices and workouts.

Yoga Flow
Similar to Vinyasa classes, but with longer holds in postures at a mellow pace to emphasize alignment within the body.  Think slow and stretchy!

All warm classes at Village Yoga are heated to at least 80ºF
